The biopolymer, Asensa NFF 11, is derived from corn starch and offers many of the features of synthetic polymers. It has been salon tested in hair-styling gel formulations to show hold and curl-resistance control even in very humid conditions. NFF 11 is easily dispersed to form a water-based latex without the use of solvent. The thickener, Asensa RC 880, provides stability to emulsions that have high electrolyte levels (up to 5% sodium chloride) or to formulations with high or low pH. RC 880 can also be used as a thickener in certain toners and cleansers.
